Here are a few stories about some of the widows and orphans that our ministry is currently supporting in Kenya, Africa:

In the area of Pop Onditi (near Lake victoria), Pastor Joseph Otieno Allen and his wife Sara are faithful ministers of the gospel and longtime co-laborers in the orphans and widows’ ministry. They have recently added to the number of orphans they are helping by taking 7 additional children into their home, to blend with their own family! (These children had been in an orphanage that closed, and had no place to go.)

In South Nyanza Province, three small boys have been recently taken into the home of Pastor Luke Odhiambo and his wife Susan. Pastor Odhiambo and his wife are also feeding 15 children who had appeared at their door one day ( because they smelled food cooking!). This group of 15 children, ranging in age from approximately 3 to 10 years, had roamed the countryside together in search of food. These children had no way of attending school… some of them had a place to sleep, but did not have adequate nourishment. Some were sleeping under the stars… Because of the Hope Project, these children are now in school and are being fed one hot meal a day!

In the village of Ahero, Kenya Siprine Odwar, the wife of Pastor Silvance Odwar has taken 55 street children into her care! Our ministry provides finances for her to plant and harvest a large rice crop each year. These rice crops are sold to purchase food, and provide clothes, shoes, school fees and other needed materials for these children.

Near Sondu (which is a market area, but still rural) Pastor Dan Agao continues to minister to orphans and widows. Recently there, one of our widows experienced a tragedy as her African style hut collapsed upon her during a heavy rain storm. She was injured and the house destroyed. Our ministry is now in the process of rebuilding a new hut for her! She is being cared for by Pastor Dan and his church until she can fully recover and move into her new place.

The financial burden of caring for so many children and widows can seem overwhelming at times… However; we trust the Lord for His provision for us, AND have seen him work through the support of many compassionate people over the years!

– If you have been one of those people, please accept our heartfelt thanks… If you have never given to the Hope Project, now would be a wonderful time to do so, since the numbers of those we are supporting have recently increased (the needs are endless… so many people to help…)
